Insert Title Here- 5th January

Well first post of 2009.. if you don't include the last two.
Back at university for me again, got a lot of work done during the holidays though:
Firstly you'll all be glad to here we managed to get the Scatter Dice working correctly, it now has 2160 different ways of landing and now reports that it has been rolled.
The background of the map window is np longer painful, I've dulled it to a grey colour.
Two Guard armies have been added so far with hopefully more on there way.

So Cute and Tiny- 1st January

Inspired by Gr00vers articles on BOLS I've started work on an epic module, it's simply our images shrunk down 50% and put in a row like the epic models. Here's an image, oh, also, if any of you readers happen to have either a Thunderhawk, Marauder bomber, Vulture, Ork fighta bomba or anything else special I'd like sizes!

New Year- 1st January

Well happy new year to you all, no suprises or presents today from us, like the rest of you I've been taking a well deserved rest!

May your year be happy and joyful!

New Years eve...eve- 29th December

Well I worked all through Christmas..by work I mean I sat here at my pc eating too much chocolate, drinking tea and adding Guardsmen to the module.
We have two in so far with some more being added hopefully. Check the forum for images.
Also, I started work on the Epic module. At the moment there's just the basic marines in it, I'll be adding more soon. Again I'm being lazy, go check the forum for images, not that hard to miss. There's also a download for the epic module on the forum too for people to take a peak at.

Remember the advent?
Well you can now download all the images as one big image for a Desktop background, it's shrunk down to fit, so if you wan't a different size just ask and I can make in seconds! Click here to see!

Lastly, New year! I don't drink or party.. but know most of you will be, be safe and have fun!
Lets hope Vassal40k is still here this time next year, we can all look back and laugh at me.

Why is it called Boxing Day?- 26th December

Yup even I work on Christmas day!
You'll have noticed a shift around of the buttons, we've ditched the redundant chat feature and we're in the progress of constructing a History page, much like the post a few days back.
I've also remade the Guide (again) and have made a pdf version of the Army Automation guide. I'll hopefully be making more of these as well as finishing off the other projects I started.
Also, new logo! The old one served us well, but I've never liked it, so I spent my Christmas re-making it!

Pickles winning entry is now available as a downloadable desktop in the Downloads section of the site, and will feature in the background of this page shortly.

Saving Armies- 24th December

Now I remember lots of you asking this question: Is is possible to save armies so taht I don't have to drag the models onto the table eveytime?
Well, thanks to Rev on our Forums, we have discovered a way, I'm dissapointed with myself for not seeing this earlier... anyway, on with the guide. Also thanks go to Killerloop for helping quickly test this feature.

Time goes on- 17th December

Ok Advent calendar is all up to date!
Thought I'd show you all something today, a nice little insight to how we've progressed as time has gone by, people joining and leaving.
So on my hunt to find the History of V40k I came across 4 modules, two made by us, Version 2.0.5 and version 3-5-5. And it's interesting to see the difference between each one.

First we have Version 2.0.5 made by xhrit.com. I found this line quite interesting on their site:
"A note about the version number:

"The first digit is the version of warhammer 40k, the second is the revision number. So, if this document version number is 2.0.5, this document is for the fifth revision of the second edition vassal 40k mod."

So this module was made for the second edition of 40k, which I thought strange at first as the work logs are dated for 2005, I always thought that this version was before the V3-5-5, it may well be, or a different version all together with no relation to V3-5-5. What sets this module apart from the others is it uses a race specific system to select the pieces, so instead of Player one, you'd choose Space Marine, then you'd only be able to move and select Marine pieces, and the same for the other races.
Xhrits module only supported Space marines, orks, eldar, Imperial Guard and tyranids. I've included an image below to show you ALL the pieces that were in the module. Some you may recognise!

Ok next we have 3-5-5, this is the earliest version of the module I can find, (missing 2.0.5). Most of the features used in this are similar to V5.1 (current version), only difference really is the graphics, of course there were small annoyances like the vehicles being out of scale and such but it was the longest living module that I can recall, anyway here's an image of V3-5-5:

I'll skip Version 5, and jump straight to V5.1, you all know the features of the current version, so what I did was make an image similar to the last image from 3-5-5, so you can see the difference between the two, amazing really, we've only been working since May of this year, so seven months.

You can definitely see the scale change between the vehicles and infantry. So now I'd like to thank everyone that's helped out on this amazing project over the years, if I wasn't as lazy I would delve further and find the list of all the people who helped. But alas I am.

So thank you to everyone who has helped out over the years!

Whee- 16th December

Again sorry for the no update yesterday... had to reinstall all my programs on new pc, I'll get making two now.

Also the Battlefield contest officially ended, with Pickle being the winner, here is his winning entry.

Forum- 14th December

Added a special area to the forum today, the V40k members club, this area is hidden to all but those with membership, you can gain membership via various ways, such as donating, contributing with work, ideas or imagery/photos, winning competitions etc. Stuff that's in there won't be put up on the web site for a while yet!

Advent is all up to date too, so far we have 14 awesome looking images, the 25th will be special, I assure you.

Also I may have accidentally pasted my signature at the bottom of this page.. wonder how I managed that! I've removed it, but here it is for those who missed it! Damn that bunny.

Damn them..- 13th December

Arrgh, Uni decided that they would work on the tower thingy on Friday night ¬_¬ So I was left with no internet and no warning that there would be no internet. So I missed an advent thingy, I'll upload both today.

Anyway, home a day early, so things are back on track more or less, sorry if the colours are a bit mad on the advent today.. on my new screen, I don't have my current one with me (yup TWO screens now!) so can't get the settings right on the brightness etc.
